<Movie trailer-guy voiceover>"He was born into a world without the Internet. A world without smartphones, Smart cars or the 24 hour news cycle. To Alan Evans, memory was a matching game played with cards. A browser was someone who shopped but did not buy. A hard drive was a really long commute. His TV got only 4 channels. Can a man born in such a strange land live and thrive in our modern world? "
While I doubt that movie would set any box office marks, many of us can relate to the incredible technological changes we've seen in our lifetimes. Things that were science fiction 20 years ago are now commonplace. We all now live in an age where making sense of all the technology and information is a full time job.
In a sense that's my job with Ironworks Consulting. I help organizations figure out how they should use the power of the Internet (and other technologies) to help accomplish their goals and better serve their customers. It's a fascinating challenge for many reasons - the technologies are rapidly evolving, the best practices are still being established, and there is so much opportunity for most organizations.
In a past life I worked for the American Diabetes Association helping run the diabetes.org website. The experience gave me a broad exposure to the different aspects involved in the creation and execution of an effective web strategy - e-commerce, usability, design, accessibility, information architecture, etc. So having been both, I bring both a "client" and a "vendor" perspective to my work.
For over a year, I wrote a technology blog called Cleverthink. I enjoyed the blogging experience and look forward to getting back into it as part of the Ironworks Fit and Finish writing team.
Enjoy the movie.
Ironworks is always on the lookout for experienced professionals who believe in hard work, having fun, and great client service.
I'm already looking forward to the sequel.
